Abstract: The present article, written on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the birth of the poet Aurel Rău, editor and later editor-in-chief of the magazine Steaua, offers a brief overview of his intellectual biography. Starting from several dedications on books that the writer had originally offered to personalities such as Mihail Petroveanu, Mihnea Gheorghiu, Dumitru Micu or Nicolae Manolescu, volumes which later came into the possession of George Corbu Junior, the study reconstructs, from a memorialistic perspective, several episodes from the postwar history of Romania. The text brings to light information of an emotional nature, as well as cultural and, not least, political aspects.
