Abstract: In this article, I followed the influence of the paternal model in the work and intellectual construction of Radu Stanca, the one considered the de facto head of the Literary Circle from Sibiu, and the man of direction who penned the literary ide­ology of the group. The demonstration makes a cutout that highlights an early episode susceptible to significant interpretive repositioning. Examining the family memoirs and publicist archives show that the young Radu Stanca was educated under the guidance of his father, a priest and writer, and not under that of his older brother. Inaccurately, until now, the critical tradition accredited the publicist Horia Stanca as the future poet’s mentor. Comparing the literature of the father with that of the son, is obvious that qualitative cultural leap occurred, later theorized by Radu Stanca in one of his articles (“From the historical to the philosophical style”). In a single generation it passed from the ponderous, didactic and sentimental literature of the father to the sophisticated expression, encompassing a superior aestheticism and ethics, of the son.
