Si, depuis le début du XXe siècle, la critique roumaine a identifié comme source première d’Eminescu la relation du baron Joseph Freiherr von Hammer-Purgstall sur ce poème, intégré dans son ouvrage Geschichte des osmanischen Reiches (10 vols., 1827–1835), dont, selon les recherches de Perpessicius, Eminescu avait entrepris la traduction de la première partie, en revanche personne n’a observé certains détails non dépourvus d’intérêt qui rapproche la version d’Eminescu de la présentation du même poème par Dora d’Istria dans son ouvrage La poésie des ottomans (Paris, Maisonneuve, 1877, publié antérieurement dans la Revue des Deux…

The autobiographical project that encompasses his whole work is governed by this creative principle, whose importance seems to have been recognized first by the great Romanian exile Mircea Eliade, who is seen in this article as a kind of a paternal and mythical figure for the Romanian exile. The return to the maternal language and to fiction is perceived, in this sense, as the return to a Romanian paradoxical identity. The article describes the relationship between critical interpretation, personal memory and bookish imagination, analyzing a few fragments from the Romanian edition of the volume (Re)reading.
