On this occasion, the “Eugen Barbu case” has once again been in the centre of attention, causing different reactions, in which the mistruth has overlapped the truth. In the first part, the study analyzes the accusations of plagiarism against one of Barbu’s benchmark novels. In 2016, the “România literară” journal published a file to let it be understood that the novel Groapa (1957) would have encapsulated the micro-novel Hotel Maidan (1935) signed by Stoian Gh. Tudor (1911–1941). Dissected point by point, the evidence on which the demonstration from “România literară” relies, which has been embraced – without…

FICȚIUNEA DISTOPICĂ – DIVERTISMENT SAU CÂNTEC DE LEBĂDĂ?

The former contempt of the academia for science fiction has led to a reassessment and “repackaging” by the writers of their works as belonging to the speculative fiction genre. The inner space science fiction, sometimes rebranded as dystopian, cli-fi and post-apocalyptic fiction has gradually moved away from the outer worlds of the hard sci-fi. Several interpretation keys can be discerned from the analysis of the dystopian genre’s profitable market, including collective anguish during what may currently seem to be the End Times, guilt for the climate collapse, spiritual masochistic pleasure, gender issues etc., keeping in mind, though, the obvious peril of oversimplification. It represents an effort to understand the world through man’s struggle with himself and the world around him. The characters are strongly connected to nature, which serves as the foundation of the ancient spirit of humanity. They go through a gnoseological hell, recognizing the harmony between the deepest layers of existence and archaic-mythical patterns, as well as ancient and pagan customs. To depict the primal…

An overview of the history of Serbian literature shows that it, valued at the time of its emergence, throughout its duration, and even today, represents the culmination or final products of critical thought synthesis. Therefore, it can be rightly asserted that both the significant national cultural project and the major synthesis of the history of Serbian criticism – The History of Serbian Literary Criticism by Predrag Palavestra – emanate from the history of Serbian literature. In its theoretical, methodological, and critical principles, the paper represents a cross-section of ten histories of Serbian literature….

It begins by outlining the fundamental principles of her poetics, based on relevant literature on her poetry in Romanian and English. Then, Anastasia Gavrilovici’s poetry is compared to that of Czech classic Ivan Blatný and Polish Nobel laureate Wisława Szymborska. Finally, the paper concludes that her poetry can also be compared to that of the Serbian poets of her generation (Milica Špadijer, Irena Plaović, Milica Drndarević, Katarina Pantović). The goal of the paper is to offer interpretative possibilities for Gavrilović’s poetry in Serbian and within the frameworks of Serbian literary studies through comparative analysis. Hartman, its reconsideration from the position of world literature might broaden both the concept of literature and that of philosophy. The fluid lines between the two disciplines, viewed as such according to continental philosophical thinking from existentialism to poststructuralism, may lead to the concept of world philosophy as world literature, already explored from various particular perspectives in collective volumes and studied as an academic discipline. Such enterprises come to complete the picture of the multiperspectival connection between the two “sister arts”, surveyed in previous collective researches dealing with topics like: philosophy as literature, the philosophy of literature, philosophy in literature, literary genres and literary style in philosophical discourse, or the intermediary status of literary theory. Based on a rich international bibliography in the field of adjacent medieval studies, the issue of temptation and original sin, with the associated moral-religious implications, is specifically investigated by analyzing the representation and codification of the senses of the Adamic couple. Stubbornly, they resist any model that would force them to conform to a single interpretation. I argue that there is a “subversive” side of dreams under(mining) the epic conventionality, a side that seems to question the epic itself but, at the same time, to originate it and I suggest that the poetics of the Homeric epics may be based precisely on a subterranean merging between the “awake” story of the epic and its dreams. The dreams of the Homeric poems seem to yield both epiphanies and the epic song; they are situated as an intermediary realm both between men and gods, and between…

On one hand, the creator’s intelligence, which also includes a strong critical dimension, is not identical to that of the critic, whose perspective entails a distancing and objectification that the author, considering it’s their own work, finds more challenging to adopt. The only drawback of external critique is that it arrives post facto and can only enhance the writer’s future style — thus benefiting subsequent creations, but not the one it critiques. Authentic critique plays an indispensable role as a guardian of value when it is competent, anticipatory, and constructive without being indulgent. The conclusion is that a balanced critical spirit, grounded in a broad culture allowing for diverse references, is a prerequisite for quality. The analysis focuses on the evolution of the construction methods of poetic discourse, representations of the self, thematic cores, and how the influences of other poetics are reflected in Bacovian poetry. Despite the mutations and numerous reconfigurations it has undergone, Bacovia’s lyrical universe, with all its theses and antitheses, represents a cohesive whole. In his poetry, George Bacovia becomes a sort of homo faber: by adopting and juxtaposing traits from poetics that are often in opposition, the poet relativizes conventions, creating a unique formula of his own.
